How does one become a senior rider at the Spanish Riding School?
Rudolf Rostek joined the Spanish Riding School as an eleve in 1991 at the age of 16. After the three-year apprenticeship and a few more years, he became a rider candidate and was given a young Lipizzaner stallion to train. Only when horse and rider can present themselves in a performance in the school quadrille does one become a rider. For Rudolf Rostek, that was the case in 2002. Since 2019, he has even been a senior rider. In addition to experience, this also requires training successes as a rider as well as a teacher. Now he is coming to Basel in January as part of the world-famous Spanish Riding School and, with eight riders and 26 Lipizzaner stallions, will delight the audience with daily demonstrations of the high school of horsemanship.
