Basel with Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Henrik von Eckermann

With its excellent reputation and challenging competitions, as well as a prize fund of one million Swiss francs up for grabs, this prestigious event at Basel attracts the equestrian elite from around the world. It is therefore no surprise that both current world number 1s – Jessica von Bredow-Werndl in dressage and Henrik von Eckermann in show jumping – have already confirmed their participation.

With King Edward, Von Eckermann would like to repeat his victory at this year’s World Cup competition in Basel. His biggest rivals include the two Swiss champions Martin Fuchs and Steve Guerdat. Both have already won the World Cup competition in Basel. The two other top ten riders, Julien Epaillard (FRA) and Max Kühner (AUT), winner of the Longines Grand Prix 2023 in Basel, are also to be reckoned with.

Jessica von Bredow-Werndl (GER), the winner of this year’s FEI Dressage World Cup competition in Basel, is also planning to take part in the Dressage once again. She will be riding her wonder mare TSF Dalera BB. Also there to challenge them will be Nanna Skodborg Merrald from Denmark and German compatriot Isabell Werth, the most successful Dressage rider in history. From the Swiss Dressage squad, team manager Ruth Haas has earmarked Swiss champion Charlotte Lenherr and Charlotta Rogerson for a start in the line-up. They will compete against the world’s elite on Friday in the Grand Prix with prize money of CHF 30,000 and on Saturday in the freestyle with prize money of CHF 100,000.
