What began in 2001 as a modest tournament at Schänzli has grown into one of Switzerland’s most prestigious equestrian events: the LONGINES CHI CLASSICS BASEL. Thanks to the vision of Willy Bürgin and Thomas Straumann, the tournament progressed from four-star to five-star level and secured the FEI Jumping World Cup™ Western European League title in 2019. Since 2023, it has also brought together show jumping and dressage under one roof. As it enters its 16th edition in January 2027, the event continues its success story – and in 2028, the St. Jakobshalle will once again host the FEI World Cup Finals.
